Enquiries & Booking information
This Easter John Muir Award is underway. Please take a look at our gallery to see some of the things the young people have discovered.
The John Muir Award is an environmental award that encourages people of all backgrounds to connect, enjoy and care for wild places through a structured yet adaptable scheme. The Award is not competitive but should challenge each participant.
Four challenges are at the heart of each John Muir Award, to achieve an Award each participant must:
Discover a wild place
Explore its wildness
Conserve - take personal responsibilty
Share experiences
The first level of the award which is the Discovery Level and we hope to be able to deliver the two further levels in the future. We have decided to run this club to challenge some of the particpants of Kids Club who have either grown out of our club and are now to old to attend or have been coming for a long time and have hit their peak.
*Please note 9 year olds can only be enrolled if they have attended the Kids Club in the woods for 12 months or longer on a regular basis.
The summer course will take place at our Northop Woodland during the summer holidays days 1,2 and 3 will be from 9.30-3.30 and day 4 will take place later in the day to allow parents the opportunity to attend a campfire celebration. Each day will allow the particpants time to take part in activites related to all four challenges. Our leaders will be there to guide and inspire the children and young people but as the award must be their own work the day will be free flowing and participant led.
All particpants must be fully committed to achieving the award so please only book your child on if they are genuinely interested and not as a child care option.
