Forest School is a learning ethos which uses the outdoor setting to enhance the participants learning and development.
Plas Derw Trust have over 10 years experience of delivering a variety of sessions and are pleased to be able to offer local home school families the opportunity to join us for regular sessions at our beautiful woodland in Caerwys.
Our member of staff will be on hand to support parents to utilise the stimulating outdoor environment to enhance their child’s learning and development through the Forest School ethos. The campfire will be lit, the mud kitchen equipped, water play available puddles pending, and each week we will have a topical activity on hand. When appropriate our leader will also introduce tool use to the children and they can also work towards our Forest School Awards schemme.

About the sessions
The Forest School ethos uses the outdoor environment to stimulate the participants inquisitiveness and curiosity, free play is an integral part of any Forest School provision so the main aim of the session is to give your child the opportunity to experience free play in the natural environment.
Sessions will be begin with a health and safety talk around the campfire before you explore the activity stations set up around the camp. The campfire will be lit for hot drinks and our leader will be available to support you as well as assist with activities. At the end of the session we come together again for closing circle where we reflect on the session and discuss ideas for the next meeting.
Terms and Conditions
Session must be block booked to ensure our staff costs are met we need a minimum of 12 families to book
Refunds cannot be given for missed or cancelled sessions
Parents remain responsible for their own children throughout the sessions
Session run in all weathers except high winds
