Kids Club in the Woods is our holiday club based on the Forest School Ethos. Our clubs take place in local woodlands in dedicated camps with defined boundaries. Sessions take place all year round in all weathers: rain, shine or snow (however sessions may be cancelled in high winds) and are delivered by experienced qualified leaders who have full DBS checks and first aid.
Kids Club in the Woods gives children the opportunity for free play in a safe, stimulating environment, using natural resources to stimulate their imagination. Our leaders provide activities to focus the group but free play forms the majority of the of the holiday club as we follow the Forest School ethos of sessions being participant led.
Our Northop site is CIW registered. We are inspected and monitored by ‘Care Inspectorate Wales’ – Our latest inspection is available to view further down the page .

Did you know that is is now a legal requirement for anyone looking after children under the age of 12 for more than 2.5 hours offering more than 6 sessions a year to be registered with the CIW.
You can rest assured that Plas Derw’s Kids Club in the woods is fully compliant with this legislation as we have been registered since 2016. Read our previous inspection report here
Our holiday club is fully inclusive and we can cater for children with additional needs after consultation with you the parents.
If your child’s developmental age is younger than their chronological age then they may still be able to attend despite our age range guidelines of 6-13ys
Children on the autistic spectrum maybe able to attend unaccompanied so long as their behaviour does not pose a danger to themselves or others.
All children with additional needs can attend with a carer/ support works and in some cases a responsible older sibling (14+)
Please call Anjela on 01352 840 955 to discuss your child’s needs and strategies for their attendance.
My son’s favourite holiday club EVER!!!!!! Being outside enjoying freedom of play – doing things kids should be doing not on computers / in front of TV all day. I can’t praise them enough. Working full time I inevitably have used many different services / holiday clubs in the area – my son (age 11) and I both agree nothing compares to Plas Derw.
Mrs S customer since 2013
Although the initial reasons I chose Plas Derw were was for childcare, it has become far broader than that. Forest club has become the highlight of my son’s year, beating any holiday or time in school. Really. He absolutely loves it. Childcare is something you endure. Plas Derw is a childhood memory that my son will treasure for life. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to give him that.
